Styles of the blow dry

Health and Safety

  • Clean washed hands must always be the first thing before touching client
  • Hair is tied back at all times
  • Model should be wearing a apron or protected clothing
  • Must check whether there is any contraindications such as sickness or infection
Products/Items used
  • Hair Dryer with nozzle
  • Paddle brush or round brush depending on style wanted
  • Salt spray
  • Mousse
  • Root boost
  • Heat defence
  • Moroccan oil
  • Water spray
Noted that products used do depend on the hair of the model and condition of the hair so bleached hair doesn't need salt spray or afro hair use just oil no salt spray or mouse

in class we were given the option of a sleek look or a curly waved look.

Sleek straight hair

Spray the hair with a coating of water spray and run fingers through the hair.
Apply all the products that are needed for the look and run though the ends of the hair.
Section the hair off to make it easier for yourself.
Using a paddle brush start at the root slightly tilted up against the root apply the first heat making sure the temperature isn't too hot and doesn't burn the models head or cause discomfort.
After a few seconds with the hair dryer pushed up right against the hair start to work down the hair pushing your elbow up to ensure the right placement of the hair dryer pushing against the brush. I turned the temperature up a little when I proceeded to do this to ensure straight sleek hair was successful.

I love this look; it is a lot more work then straightening the hair and aches the arm after a while but the finished look is more volumous and seemingly more glamorous; in fact the look would look great for a red carpet or occasional event.
