Introduction

This terms project is entitled "Beauty and the Brand". The project itself is all focused on a chosen brand in which we are given the options from a list of luxury and artistic makeup brands. After choosing the brand we are set to develop a catwalk, editorial and advertising shoots that have been developed from researching deeply into the brand from past campaigns to what can be seen on the catwalk S/S 16 looks.
After doing a project last term on editorial beauty and the concept of 'Beauty is boring' I feel like my mind is now more open and adventurous with some expectation for myself this term.
For the work we have to produce six professional in quality images; two for catwalk, two for editorial and two for advertising looks each that either resemble a evening or day look. I am looking forward to producing work that really shows the huge dynamic of the brand I chose and also showing my own stills and diversity in beauty and creative style makeup that is more often shown on the catwalk shows it seems too me.

Two examples of advertisements by two of the branding's on the list. The focus is not only of the model but the product that is being sold to the consumer. For our own project we have had some experience in advertising for a perfume ad which was done in our first year on the course. The advertisements are usually glamorous and really show beauty from the female; the big is sell is the communication that the product can make the consumer feel like what they see in the advertisement. A interesting look and story within each campaign. The product is there to be brought to the masses or target the audience that can relate to the product, think of Gisele Bundchen in the more recent Chanel No.5 literally selling the Chanel lifestyle to the audience with Chanel products featured everywhere in the campaign from pillows to surf boards.

Two examples of Editorial Campaigns for Chanel and Dior. I feel like editorial campaigns are a lot of fun and can be extremely creative. On location shoots are also something that really interests me; after my beauty is boring work doing a shoot outside I feel like I want to explore this more as well as studio work. Editorial shoots for me are the most creative and the shoots I look most forward to because I feel like they are the most open artistically thinking about the location and poses of the model in a unique way. The difference between a editorial and advertising campaign is the fact that we know that a advertising campaign is selling us a product. With a editorial campaign the selling is more secretive and we notice detailing of the imagery more.

Two examples of great catwalk makeup done by Mac and Nar's for designers. These looks are creative and will suit the look of the show. I love the nars bleached brow look and find it really effective. The makeup for the skin I've also noticed are very natural with the matte or dewy finishes this is definitely something to take notice of. Catwalk makeup can be extreme which is exciting, the models can look like pieces of art.
